About Us
Asylum is a fun and active Free Company, comprised of many skilled and friendly players from both FFXI and FFXIV. Here in Asylum, we are working towards group progression with a "leave no person behind" attitude. This means that we are not aiming for server firsts or personal triumphs; we are aiming for equal-opportunity progression, group fun and helping each other through all that the game has to offer. Asylum operates like a family, and in Asylum, our family comes first.
We are always happy to welcome new players to our ranks, especially those players who are friendly, dedicated and loyal. If you are interested in becoming part of our family, please read though our General Rules, and if you agree to abide by them at all times, complete the application form and it will be reviewed promptly.
*Upon acceptance to Asylum, the Member Forums and various other features of our website will become available to you. We encourage you to make use of our Teamspeak 3 server to get to know everyone in Asylum.General Free Company Rules and Information:
Members of Asylum are expected to be friendly and courteous at all times when dealing with other members of the Free Company, or members of the larger FFXIV gaming community. Harassment of other players will not be tolerated. If your behavior crosses the line in any way, you may receive a warning or you may be immediately removed from the Free Company. If you are given a warning and you fail to take immediate corrective action, you will be dismissed from the Free Company.
Asylum is comprised of adult members, and as such, there may at times be adult language present in both the in-game chat as well as on Teamspeak 3. If you have issues with adult language, we kindly suggest that you look for a home elsewhere.
General Raid Rules:
We generally raid in the evening, after 8:00 PM EST, though there are often people raiding at all hours. If you choose to raid with us, you are expected to take action to prepare yourself for the event. This means having cut-scenes completed, repairing your gear, and using food, potions, etc. If you show up to a raid unprepared, you may be left out in favor of someone else that has taken the time to properly prepare.
Looting is based upon the in-game need or greed system. If an item drops for a job that you are currently playing and you actually need the item, then hit need. Members are expected to realize that we operate as a team and they should be courteous towards one another when it comes to drops. "Loot whoring" is grounds for removal from the Free Company.
[added 10/19/13] If we are doing multiple runs of an event, or a succession of events back-to-back, please do not change jobs in between runs to go do something else - it just holds up the rest of the group. This means, no switching to crafting, or doing random quests, even if a member of the group had to afk for bio or to attend to their child, etc. Please remain on the appropriate job for the duration of the event(s).
Teamspeak 3 Rules:
Teamspeak 3 is our choice VoIP program for raid communication and general socializing. All members are encouraged to use this program, but members attending our raids are REQUIRED to use it. You do not need to have a mic enabled, you can simply listen in during events. You can download the program
HERE.
Your user name should match your character name in-game. If you need help with this setting, speak with an officer.
When you enter the server, choose an appropriate channel. Lobby channels are for general socializing, whereas raid channels are for, well, raiding. If you see people in a raid channel, they are probably doing an event which requires focus so please do not barge into the channel and make your presence known.
You must be logged into Guildwork in order to apply and/or view your application status.
